Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim admitted that his team "complicates" games, speaking after guiding the Red Devils to a 2-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
United secured the win with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro. Fernandes marked his 200th Premier League appearance by scoring his 100th goal for Manchester United, while Casemiro added a second before being sent off just before halftime.
Despite taking a 2-0 lead and playing with a numerical advantage after Chelsea's goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was sent off early, Amorim confessed that Manchester United then made the game more difficult than necessary.
“We scored two goals, and then we tried to complicate our game again. It’s always complicated with us. It should have been different this game,” Amorim told BBC Sport.
He praised the Old Trafford crowd, saying, “Our crowd, our fans are easy to please. If you give everything, they will be there. That is something our players need to understand.”
Amorim emphasized the importance of effort, encouraging his players by stating, “To have the crowd with us, we just need to run, to fight and tackle.”
Despite the complications and Casemiro's dismissal, United managed to withstand Chelsea's late pressure and secure back-to-back home wins.
